After defeating FK Partizan by a score of 2-1 on Thursday evening in the UEFA Europa Conference League, Nice's chances of advancing to the knockout stages of the competition they are competing in increased significantly. The team led by Lucien Favre has not yet been ruled out of the competition.

After the match was over, the former manager of Borussia Dortmund voiced his contentment with the play of his players, noting that he believed his team had played positive football over the course of the competition. Having said that, he was also quite concerned about the missed opportunities that were created by the forwards for Nice. As published by L'Équipe, Favre stated,

"Everything fell into place perfectly. When we played football, we put a significantly higher focus on moving the ball forward. There were some requests put in, some openings taken, and some quickness put on display. I have been insisting on this point ever since the month of June... Nevertheless, for a brief amount of time, and during that time, we allowed a goal to be scored. On the other hand, we provided a constructive response to their inquiry. We were in a position where victory was the only option. It is true that we had a few chances, but we were unable to take advantage of any of them when they presented themselves. The circumstances are virtually identical to the description. At least our hands are the ones that went into making them. That's not the worst thing ever. After that, we did not fall farther and further behind because there was activity and ideas being proposed. In the years to come, I want that to serve as our guiding principle.

Nice now have the same number of points as Partizan, who also have an encouraging chance of advancing to the next round of the UEFA Europa Conference League after playing five matches and accumulating eight points. This is because both teams won their respective matches, giving both teams a total of eight points. The following week will feature a crucial clash between Koln and Nice, and it will take place the following week.
